Manchester United have approached Atletico Madrid in a bid to sign defender Diego Godin, according to SkySports.

Jose Mourinho has identified the Atletico Madrid centre-back as the perfect fit in a bid to strengthen his defence.

The 32-year-old has been an important figure for Atletico Madrid recent seasons and starred for Uruguay in their World Cup campaign in Russia.

The centre-back has won the La Liga and contributed to Atletico winnign six cup competitions. He also played a crucial role in the teams that lost in the final of the Champions League in both 2014 and 2016.
