Gunners join race to sign 23-year-old winger from Atletico Madrid

The Gunners have been linked with a move for Atletico Madrid winger Yannick Ferreira Carrasco, according to a report by Spanish publication AS.

Arsenal will need to fight off Premier League rivals Manchester United if they plan to secure his signature though, especially if the report by AS is to be believed. The report also stated that there is interest from London rivals Chelsea as well as they seek to strengthen their squad in an extremely competitive Premier League season this year.

The Belgian, who is currently 23 years of age has scored 10 goals for his club this season in 19 games. He joined from Monaco last year but has looked a little bit unsettled, which could be the reason why Diego Simeone may be willing to cash in as he has an £85m release clause in his contract.

£85m does not sound like a Wenger signing at all, but if Wenger is planning on winning the league anytime soon he will need to begin to splash the cash, which is what everyone has been screaming for the last couple of years.
