27-year-old Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema has claimed that he ‘never’ even considered leaving La Liga giants Real Madrid for a switch to the Premier League in the Summer.
The Striker was being linked to Arsenal on a daily basis in the Summer transfer window as many believed that Arsene Wenger was prepared to add some more firepower to his team in a bid to win the Premier League this season.
However, as time went on many reports claimed that a move for the striker failed to materialise, which resulted in the striker staying in Spain.
According to new reports Arsenal never even tabled official bid for the striker and the striker has come forward to say that he did not even consider the possibility of leaving Real Madrid for the Premier League side.
When the striker was asked by Journal du Dimache if a transfer to the Emirates stadium was a possibility in the Summer, Benzema responded with:
“Never. Like every summer, I laugh about it with my brother and my friends. We wait for the media to come out with these rumours.
“In my opinion, I think that Real and Barca are the pinnacle in football. Why I would leave? I’m a starter for the best club in the world. I am happy; it’s that simple.”
Should Arsenal have signed him?
