Arsenal are ready to pay the release clause for Atletico Madrid’s midfielder Thomas Partey. According to reports, the Ghana international has a €50 million release clause in his contract and the Gunners are hoping to activate the clause in the Summer.
According to Libertad Digital, the Gunners have already reached out to the player’s representatives, tabling their interest, while making it clear they would be prepared to pay his buyout clause to bring him to London.
The Gunners approached the player’s representative in the winter to enquire about the players availability, but no further deal was discussed.
Mikel Arteta is looking forward to add grit and steel to his midfield and he has identified Partey as the ideal candidate.
But despite the interest from Arsenal, Partey is said to be keen to stay in Madrid. He described the interest in him from other clubs as flattering and it also motivates him to do better, but he is determined to stay in Madrid for as long as the club wants.
Atleti on the hand have disclosed that they are unaware of Arsenal’s or any other club’s interest in Partey but they have made it clear they that they are not looking forward to sanctioning the sale of the player who has been with Atleti for the whole of his senior career.
