Released Chelsea attacker Pedro is in Italy today for talks with Roma. After seeing out his Chelsea contract, Pedro is set to be officially unveiled as a Roma player. According to Fabrizio Romano, the Spaniard has landed in Rome and he is expected to sign a two-year contract with Roma, who will have an option to extend the deal for a third season.
The veteran attacker was allowed to come off contract by Chelsea this month. The deal looks set to go ahead despite Pedro having suffered a dislocated shoulder in his final Chelsea appearance, in their FA Cup final defeat to Arsenal earlier this month.
The Spaniard wrote on social media that surgery on the injury “went well” and that he would be “back soon”.
Pedro scored 43 goals in 206 appearances for Chelsea and helped them win the Premier League in 2017, FA Cup in 2018, and Europa League in 2019.
Pedro’s career, starting in Barcelona, has been as spectacular as one can hope for. The Spaniard has played alongside arguable the best to ever play the game in Lionel Messi, scored in a Champions League final, won the Premier League and the La Liga title.
Pedro will cost Roma nothing in transfer fees while bringing in bags of experience to bolster the Italian side’s squad.
