Mourinho’s Honeymoon with new “bride” Tottenham Hotspur was ended by former employee, Manchester United. His charges fell to a determined Manchester United side at Old Trafford as the rollercoaster journey was put to a halt.
Aside from the Emphatic victory last season, Spurs have always struggled each time they go to Old Trafford. As a matter of fact, they have lost more matches at the venue than they have in any other ground in the Premier League. They have suffered 35 defeats against Manchester United.
Despite the well-detailed struggles of United this season, they have managed some sort of form while playing at Old Trafford, their last defeat coming in August, a 2-1 loss against Crystal Palace. They have gone nine matches without defeat since then.
The Lilywhites were poor on the night and it could be said they lost to a more hungrier Manchester United side, who were always first to every loose ball.
On the positive side for Jose Mourinho will be the form of Dele Alli, the English man have enjoyed some resurrection since Mourinho took over in North London. Alli’s form can be attributed to Mourinho decision to play him closer to goal. His wonder strike against the Red Devils made it the 3rd game in a row he has found the net, the last time he managed that, was in 2017.
Mourinho and his charges will be looking forward to put the disappointment behind them, as they host Burnley at home at the weekend.
