Liverpool captain and England international midfielder Jordan Henderson has been named the best player in the 2019-2020 Premier League season by British football writers.
The Reds captain has been named the Football Writers’ Association (FWA) Footballer of the Year for the 2019-20 Premier League season, following a series of fine performances for Liverpool.
The captain played a central role as Liverpool stormed all the way to the EPL title, their first English top flight title in three decades.
The England international saw off competition from Manchester City midfielder Kevin De Bruyne and Manchester United striker Marcus Rashford, among others, to win his maiden award.
De Bruyne had a big season too and it was a close call between Henderson and De Bruyne, but it seems the title winning side of Liverpool might have swinged the pendulum in the favour of Henderson.
De Bruyne, 29, scored 11 league goals and provided 19 assists in 34 Premier League appearances.
Meanwhile, Henderson led his side to their first Epl title in 30 years with tireless play from midfield. A feat that earned him the FWA player of the season.
