Premier League leaders Liverpool have reportedly entered the race for highly-rated Italian winger Federico Chiesa. According to a report by CalcioMercato the Reds have been monitoring the Fiorentina forward for a while and are ready to make a bid for his signature.
It is understood that there is a stiff competition for the forward with the likes of Milan, Juventus and Napoli said to be interested in the player. Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is said to be exploring ways to strengthen the team in January and Chiesa is seen as a top target.
The 22-year-old is viewed as one of the top stars in Italian football, possessing pace, power and creative ability. He is also versatile and can play in any of the three slots in the attack while also having the ability to operate as an attacking midfielder.
He can be a good addition to the front line for the Reds and supplement the front three of Mohammed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino. Juventus have appeared to be the favourites for a while, but Liverpool have the financial might to pull off a deal.
This transfer is one to look out for as we approach the January transfer window in a month’s time.
