Arsenal and Manchester City are eyeing Lyon midfielder Houssem Aouar. The 22-year-old has impressed during the Ligue 1 season and has especially caught the eye of City boss Pep Guardiola, who adores the player, according to L’Equipe.
However, City has finally secured the services of Spanish winger Ferran Torres from Valencia, which means they are unlikely to continue their pursuit of Aouar this summer.
The Gunners have also been credited with an interest in the midfielder, too. Back in April, the Metro claimed that Arsenal was among a trio of PL clubs who had been impressed with the Lyon star.
As far as good midfielder is concerned, Aouar is right up there with some of the best in Europe. Goals, assists, technique, the ability to run games from the middle, the French star is a brilliant footballer.
Not many players impress Pep Guardiola as he has. The City boss previously described him as ‘incredible’, which is quite an honour in itself.
Lyon are hoping to get around £54million for the sale of Aouar, but that could be tricky with the effect of the Coronavirus Pandemic on clubs’ finances.
All the clubs hoping to snap the midfielder will have to wait until the Champions League is over to know more about how they want to recruit for next season.
Aouar is under contract at the Ligue 1 side until 2023 and has scored nine goals along with seven assists this season. Aulas would be open to keeping the player if the offers aren’t there, but OL ideally wants to sell.
