Tottenham have sacked manager Mauricio Pochettino and appointed former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho the club has confirmed. In what was the surprising news of the season, the London outfit have let go of one of the most reputable managers in the EPL.
Pochettino had taken over from Tim Sherwood five seasons ago and had turned the club into a regular Champions League team. This culminated in his peak moment of leading the club to their first Champions League Finals last season.
This campaign has however not gone to plan as the team has looked tired and bereft of the guile and swagger in previous seasons. This could be due to the fact that several first-team players have made known their intentions to leave the club.
Nevertheless, it appears that the poor run of form in the EPL has forced the club to look for a familiar face to take charge. Jose Mourinho is a worldclass manager who brings stardust and trophies to the table and takes over a group of players hungry for a title.
This relationship could work for a few seasons before the famous third season meltdown begins. Tottenham fans will be sad how it ended for Pochettino but as the saying goes, you move on.
Pochettino will have no shortage of suitors and there is a suspicion that Manchester United could make a move for him if poor results continue.
